Dr DAVID JOHNSTON
Consultant anaesthetist, Belfast Trust between the Royal Victoria Hospital and Musgrave Park Hospital sites
Dr Johnston is a consultant anaesthetist working in the Belfast Trust between the Royal Victoria Hospital and Musgrave Park Hospital sites. His clinical practice includes lower limb arthroplasty, upper limb orthopaedic / trauma and thoracic anaesthesia. He is a cofounder of the ‘Belfast Block Room’ regional anaesthesia ambulatory care unit. His postgraduate training was in the Northern Ireland deanery and he completed a regional anaesthesia fellowship in London, Ontario in 2015. He has attained the European Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia. His area of specialist interest includes early ambulation following total knee arthroplasty. He is a supervisor and lecturer for students enrolled in the intercalated anatomy masters program at Queen’s University, Belfast and he leads numerous cadaveric based anatomical research projects within this role. He is the secretary for the Northern Ireland Regional Anaesthesia Society and is a reviewer for Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine Journal.
