RA-UK 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting Speaker Spotlight - Dr Kim Russon

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

Dr Kim Russon is a Consultant Anaesthetist and Clinical Lead for Day Surgery at Rotherham Foundation Trust Hospital. Following completing a Fellowship in regional anaesthesia she has maintained a specialist interest in blocks, particularly for upper limb surgery.

She is also interested in education and in addition to teaching on many courses she was the Secretary for the Society for Education in Anaesthesia (SEAUK) and regional anaesthesia editor for Anaesthesia Tutorial of the Week (ATOTW).

Her main focus now is Day Surgery and she is the President of the British Association of Day Surgery (BADS). This has resulted in joint publications with the Association of Anaesthetists and Royal Collage of Anaesthetists and collaboration with QIST/ Northumbria team regarding day case hip and knee replacement. She was an early adopter of day case spinal anaesthesia and has published a BADS booklet about setting up this service. She sees that there is significant overlap between regional anaesthesia and day surgery.

Kim is also a keen cyclist and runner and enjoys getting out in the nearby beautiful Peak District.

Dr Kim Russon will be speaking at the RA-UK 2021 ASM!
