Consultant anaesthetist University Hospitals of Derby UK since 1994. 32 years of experience in regional anaesthesia including early adoption of USGRA. Special interest in the practice of, and education in, spinal and regional anaesthesia for ambulatory surgery and acute pain after knee surgery. Advisor to British Association of Day Surgery (BADS) and Sintetica UK on day case spinal anaesthesia. Extensive experience in ambulatory surgery using low-dose Bupivacaine, Prilocaine and 2-chloroprocaine, developing guidelines for their use presented at BADS (2015,2017), South West Ambulatory Group (2019) and AAGBI Winter Scientific Meeting (2019). Winner of gold award BADS (2015) for presentation on the first UK use of 2-Chloroprocaine in Day Case Spinal Anaesthesia. Prize winning presentation at British Society of Orthopaedic Anaesthetists (2018) on 2-chloroprocaine for knee arthroscopy. Author “Spinal Anaesthesia in Ambulatory Surgery” BJA Education (2019). Outside work interests include walking, cycling, rugby and rebuilding classic cars.
