Professor Anil Hormis is a Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care Medicine at the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. He also works as Consultant in Major Trauma at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and as a HEMS doctor for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. He completed his Anaesthesia & Critical Care training in South Yorkshire and he undertook fellowships in Clinical Simulation (Montagu Simulation Centre) and Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine and Major Trauma at the Royal London Hospital.
He has a specialist interest in Regional Anaesthesia, especially for day case orthopaedic surgery (upper limb and lower limb) and trauma surgery. He was an early adopter of day case spinal anaesthesia with Prilocaine and 2-chloroprocaine. He has been involved in the pathway for day case arthroplasty within the Trust. He has also been integral in the evolution of the rib fracture analgesia pathway within the Trust. He is an invited speaker at national and international conferences. His research interests are both within anaesthesia and critical care medicine.
