Former  Chairman of the Vascular Anaesthesia Society, and has held several leadership roles in research and was Clinical Lead for Organ Donation for the Midlands (2015-18).  He was an examiner for the Primary FRCA from 2007-18 and editor of the BJA from 2008-2017. Current council member and trustee of the RCoA. He has been Editor-in-Chief of BJA Education, since 2018.
