Abstract submission guidelines

Abstracts for poster / oral presentation are welcomed for the annual RA-UK poster competition. The submitted work should be related to the science or clinical practice of regional anaesthesia or perioperative ultrasound.

Abstract submission deadline 23:59 on the 24th March 2024.

Suitable abstract submission categories include

  • Quality Improvement / Service development

  • Audit / Survey

  • Original Research

  • Case Reports / Series

  • Reviews

Abstract Timeline

  • Abstract submission- Open when registration opens

  • Abstract submission closes - 25th March, 2024, 23:59

  • Confirmation of abstract acceptance – The week of the 8th April 2024

All abstracts will be judged by an expert panel, using a standardized scoring system.

Successful candidates will be notified by email on 8th April 2024. 

Please note, the first author of the abstract needs to attend the ASM. It will not be possible to offer individual feedback on abstracts that are not accepted.

The 3 best abstracts will be invited to give an oral presentation at the ASM

All accepted authors have the option to display poster at the conference and abstracts will be published on the conference app & website.

A minimum of one author from each abstract is expected to register for the conference and attend the event in person. Those who are unable to attend in person will have their poster on the app and website only.

Prizes

The top 3 abstracts will be published in the British Journal of Anaesthesia!

The top 3 abstracts Authors are invited to present orally at the conference.

1st place: ESRA Congress registration fee and additional costs up to £500 + 1 year RAUK membership.

2nd place: RAUK Annual Meeting registration fee and additional costs up to £250 + 1 year RAUK membership.

3rd place: £250 + 1 year RAUK membership

(Prizes will be entitled for one author)

Abstracts will be submitted through our online submission system.

Submission Guidelines

 

Enter a title for your abstract in less than 20 words.
The abstract submission system will allow a 250-word abstract excluding title, author details and references.

The text of the abstract should contain the following headings; introduction, methods, results and discussion.  Case reports should follow introduction, case or cases, discussion.

A statement must be included indicating ethical approval where applicable.

Use a blank line to separate paragraphs.

References should be in Vancouver style.

Enter details of each author.

Choose a category that best represents your abstract.

Up to two figures and/or tables may also be included.

Disclose any financial support or conflict of interest where applicable
