Associate Professor Of Anaesthesia at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham

David Hewson is an Associate Professor of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Nottingham and Honorary Consultant Anaesthetist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. During postgraduate training in Brighton, London and Nottingham he was awarded the Macintosh medal by the Royal College of Anaesthetists and completed a fellowship in regional anaesthesia. His PhD examined the effectiveness of patient-maintained propofol sedation for patients undergoing lower limb arthroplasty. His clinical and research interests are in the care of patients following trauma and the effectiveness of regional anaesthetic techniques. His research has been funded by the NIHR i4i and RfPB programmes as well as the NIAA. He is an Editor of the British Journal of Anaesthesia Education and a member of the Associate Editorial Board of the British Journal of Anaesthesia.
